Have you ever had one of those weekends when the first exhibition of the first students of the first contemporary jewellery school in Greece takes place and you have to be there on time and together with your other 18 classmates prepare, present, publicly relate and pose for pictures?
No? Have a look.

…to the other. Look at all the goodies! Video installation by Orestis Rovakis and Ioannis Paneris in the back room.
The layout of the exhibition was designed by Natasha and the installation (shelves, painting of the walls, etc.) was executed by the best set-up team, namely the Anamma Seminars students. The wonderfully colourful video was created by Orestis Rovakis (images) and Ioannis Paneris (sound). Amazing job people!
There were few visitors when I arrived for my shift on Sunday morning, so I decided to have some alone time with the wonderful pieces. More pictures will be uploaded soon but here’s one of each student for now. Please be reminded that most of the 19 students are beginners and they started creating jewellery only 6 months ago, when Natasha opened her school.

We were so lucky that the theatrical group Omada 33 was rehearsing this morning and they volunteered to try on some of our pieces and smile at my camera. Thank you Faidra, thank you Maria, you look gorgeous!! And many thanks to their wonderful director, Europe Thomopoulou! What a name, by the way. Coincidence? I don’t think so… ![]()
People, go see them perform at Vryssaki (Mondays & Tuesdays 9-31st July). We watched their rehearsals and it’s going to be powerful!

What an amazing experience this has been!

Update 14.06.2012:
Who says men don’t look good in contemporary jewellery???

Great post Eleni, love your “Elpida” necklace – wonderful for the summer and the whimsical shots of Faidra and Maria wearing the jewelry is great – we don’t get enough of actual people wearing jewelry just a shot of it!
And I’m glad to put a face with a name.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!
Thank you dear Lisette!!! All the hard work has finally paid off. I’m so glad that beautiful, sunny moments of contemporary jewellery goodness in Athens have reached people around the world!
your welcome, I do think it’s so important for us to be connected even though, us jewelers are so far apart – it’s wonderful to see the many different way we interpret our ideas.
